Book Launch: “The Stone Took Off Its Boot”
Letras Lavadas Bookstore hosts the launch of Fernanda Mendes’ new book, “The Stone Took Off Its Boot”, a work of poetic prose that combines philosophical reflection, keen observation, and literary expression.
Presented by Professor Leonor Sampaio da Silva, author of the book’s foreword, the session will introduce a collection of 181 short texts exploring themes such as identity, human relationships, memory, time, nature, and the search for meaning.
Through writing marked by poetic sensitivity and reflective depth, Fernanda Mendes invites readers on a journey into the human inner world, addressing emotions, experiences, and universal questions.
👩⚕️ A psychiatrist, therapist, and author of several published works, Fernanda Mendes is a leading figure in the fields of mental health and clinical sexology in Portugal, having developed much of her professional career in the Azores since 1985.
