We build our language with rocks shifts the idea of autonomy from an abstract field into a situated, relational, and concrete practice. Rather than a fixed condition, autonomy is understood as a continuous exercise of negotiation: between self-determination and interdependence, between the local and the global, between singularity and collective life.

Starting from the context of the Azores Region, which this year marks fifty years of political and administrative autonomy, the exhibition brings together artists who explore different ways of thinking about this notion and who, by constructing their own language — through bodies, images, narratives, and processes — question how autonomy can be imagined and practiced collectively.
