The Regional Directorate for Culture, through the João José da Graça Public Library and Regional Archive, will promote, from the 20th to the 22nd of October, from 6pm to 8pm, the training course ‘How to encourage reading’, aimed at teachers, educators, librarians and the general public.

The initiative aims to promote reflection on issues surrounding reading - in its broadest sense - analysing the contrast between the increase in literacy rates and the low rate of ‘literary reading’ (as advocated by the trainer) in the country. Despite investments in libraries and educational resources, book reading continues to be low, which requires new strategies to promote it among younger generations.
