The IV Festival of the Biosphere Reserves of Portugal will take place in 2026 and features a set of activities spread across the various Portuguese Biosphere Reserves — with Graciosa Island being one of the event’s focal points.
According to the Azores Natural Park, the festival on Graciosa includes initiatives related to nature, culture, environmental education, and territorial enhancement, promoting direct contact with the island’s ecosystems.
These include workshops and educational activities on biodiversity and sustainability.
Cultural events are also part of the programme, such as literary presentations and family‑oriented activities — for example, the presentation of the children’s book A Carta Misteriosa e a Descoberta da Ilha da Biosfera, held at the Graciosa Museum as part of the 4th edition of the festival.
The festival also offers guided tours, hikes, and explorations in classified natural areas, as well as initiatives that promote the island’s natural and cultural heritage, reinforcing its role as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
