OMIC, as a partner of Ciência Viva no Verão 2025, will organise the activity 'Lichens: Life in Symbiosis', which will take place on the 6th and 20th of August, from 2pm to 4:30pm, in Parque Urbano and Jardim Botânico António Borges, in Ponta Delgada, respectively. The activity invites participants to get to know lichens, organisms resulting from a symbiosis between fungi and algae and/or cyanobacteria, living beings considered ‘air sponges’ because they absorb gases and particles circulating in the air, reflecting the composition of the surrounding atmosphere, and are used as biological indicators of air quality.
