On the 20th of June, OMIC reopened its doors with the inauguration of the MICROUNIVERSE exhibition, starting at 11am. The goal of these new exhibits is to emphasise the microorganisms that live in the thermal and hydrothermal springs, volcanic cavities and lagoons of the Azores, including extremophilic microorganisms, to raise awareness of the different types of microbial life that exist in the three domains of life, and to shed light on the biotechnological applications of different microorganisms, such as in the areas of dermocosmetics and health.
