Any moment is a good opportunity to celebrate women. On International Women’s Day, Nova Acrópole Açores brings together three women who left a profound mark on the world of science, remembering their strength, resilience, foresight, and transformative power.
We invite everyone to join us for this morning dedicated to the feminine.

Marie Curie – Her legacy is vast. The discovery of radioactivity and the identification of polonium and radium earned her two Nobel Prizes, a rare achievement in the history of the award and unique for a woman.

Katherine Johnson – An American mathematician and physicist, she was fundamental to NASA’s success during the space era. As a “human computer,” she calculated crucial trajectories for Alan Shepard’s Mercury flight (1961), John Glenn’s orbit (1962), and the Apollo 11 mission (1969).

Jane Goodall – She dedicated her life to giving voice to animals and protecting the environment, transforming our understanding of animal intelligence and conservation.

The event will begin at 10:00 a.m.
