On June 27, starting at 3:00 PM, the EBS da Povoação Gymnasium will host the 2026 edition of the Alexandre Ferreira Open. This fifth edition, which expects competitors from mainland Portugal and the islands, will feature several Bodybuilding categories. The winners will grant direct access to two major competitions: Mr. Universe and José Monteiro.
Alexandre Ferreira is a Povoação native who has dedicated a large part of his life to bodybuilding. He is a Personal Trainer and has achieved numerous regional, national, and international titles, including Overall champion and Elite Pro Card winner. In recent years, namely in September 2020, he took 3rd place in the European Bodybuilding Championship; in November 2022, he achieved 4th place in the World Championship; and in 2023, he placed 3rd in his Elite Pro debut, held in Póvoa de Lanhoso.
The Alexandre Ferreira National Open is organized by the Portuguese Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IFBB Portugal - PFBB) and is supported by the Povoação Town Hall.
