Delfina Matos, a native of the parish of Pedro Miguel and a well-known embroiderer in Faial society, shares her knowledge of the typical white embroidery done on linen with white cotton thread using the Richelieu stitch. Most of the embroidery uses floral motifs and is applied to towels, sheets, pillowcases, bedspreads and napperons, especially in the bridal trousseaus of the Azorean elite.
